Two Stroke Fuel Injection for 2018

KTM have just released the all new 2018 fuel injected two stroke line up

Even though KTM only introduced a brand new EXC in 2017, the challenges never stop and KTM is once again set to deliver the next revolutionary game-changer - the world’s first 2-stroke off road bikes with serial, electronic fuel injection.

This ground breaking development demonstrates KTM’s continued commitment to 2 stroke technology and its ongoing commitment in general to off road racing. The benefits of TPI (transfer port injection) are clear:-

  • The new electronics remove the need to re-jet whatever the conditions
  • Huge improvements in fuel efficiency
  • Clean exhaust emissions
  • Separate oil tank and electronically controlled oil pump take away the need so no more pre-mix

In addition, the TPI bikes for 2018 will benefit from the complete set of KTM Enduro racing features such as:-

  • Electric start powered by super-lightweight lithium ion batteries
  • Brembo brakes,
  • Self-adjusting hydraulic clutches,
  • KTM ‘No Dirt’ footpegs and gear shift levers
  • KTM toolless air filter boxes
  • Quick release fuel lines
  • Polished hubs
  • WP Xplor 48 split forks
  • WP Xplor PDS shock absorbers
  • Precision-welded chromoly frames. This means they are not only among the lightest bikes in their respective classes, but they also deliver intuitive handling

The first TPI (transfer port injection) models will be the 2018 250 EXC and 300 EXC which should be with us from June onwards although we are already taking deposits and demand is expected to exceed supply very quickly.

KTM are saying this is just the start of their innovations, their R&D department is expanding and they continue to invest. As they say they do it “because offroad racing is nothing less than the very foundation of the company”
